Although that sushi bar may have been your favorite restaurant when you were a couple and you definitely enjoyed Friday night visits to watch the game at the sports bar, these are no longer going to be the best places to take your baby to for a family dinner. If you’re going to use your high chair cover, you’ll probably need to re-think your dining choices for a little while unless you’ll be hiring a babysitter.
Below are some guidelines to help you choose the right restaurant where you can make the best use of your high chair cover.
Choosing the Right Time
Most new parents worry about the fuss their baby might cause at the restaurant. This is a common reason so many families never venture out until their children are already older and haven’t been taught the proper behavior for restaurants. However, you can take your high chair cover and head to an earlier dinner if you want to avoid any potential embarrassment.
If you choose to visit a restaurant before the dinner crowd starts rolling in, you’ll get faster service (in most cases) and you won’t have to worry about bothering as many patrons. You also won’t have to be concerned about the long wait for a table which can be a real challenge for a small baby.
Choosing the Right Restaurant
Obviously, if you’re bringing along a high chair cover, you’ll want to choose a restaurant with high chairs available. If your child is old enough to eat some solid foods, you’d also want to pick a place with a decent kids’ menu. That can be a challenge because most of what is served on these menus is pretty much what you’d find in a fast food restaurant.
A better option could be a buffet. Most buffets are designed to be family-friendly. They also have a wide range of foods, including vegetables and fruits which are very good for your baby and won’t make a mess all over his or her high chair cover. Plus, buffets are a good way for your baby to try some new foods.
There are always a lot of other kids at buffets so most people won’t mind a little noise from yours either. Plus, buffets are typically loaded with senior citizens who would love to swoon over your little bundle of joy in his high chair cover.
Calling Around
If you’re not familiar with the family dining establishments in your area, there’s nothing wrong with calling a few and asking about their accommodations for babies. Make sure they don’t mind if you bring along your high chair cover – most wouldn’t since it saves them some clean up. You might also ask about breastfeeding policies and diaper changing facilities.
Planning the Evening
Once you’ve chosen a place and a time, be sure to be equipped with everything you need for a wonderful dinner, including your stylish high chair cover.
